After the upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 on my primary desktop computer, the printer kept working.
Just for the sake of trying, I’ve installed the printer on my new laptop and recorded the process using Istanbul.
The result is this 10mb video. Hope it helps.
PS
The first couple of tasks (downloading the driver, installing alien, and converting .deb files) are not shown in the video. Also, it took me a while to find my old ccpd file (you can get that file here), sorry about that, I should have prepared better. This was all done in one try.

not yet working for me. I use ubuntu 8.04 and every step in you video i try, but till now everything not work in my prnter. my printer is Canon LBP 2900. every instruction I do and i change from lbp1120 to lbp2900. any clue for me ?

I recently moved to ubuntu 8.10. This is the first time in the linux universe.
In case u decide to upgrade… i’ll be very happy to follow your steps in order to install my LBP 1120

Thanks again for the instructions. I’ve updated to Hardy 8.04 and my printer seems to work. I used Canon’s newer driver (1.80) instead of the 1.6 (or older), which was tested by them already and was ok according to them.
